An IPTV subscription and an IPTV player are different purchases

The most common beginner mistake is treating the IPTV app and the IPTV service as the same thing. They come from different companies, cost different amounts and need different help. Once you can tell them apart, setup and support get much simpler.

The difference in one sentence

The subscription supplies what you watch; the player app controls how you watch it. Nova Star TV plans are purchased through IPTV Services. Your player comes from an independent developer, may charge its own fee and must accept your supplied login format.

Research notes and what we checked

An analogy: the water supply and the tap

The subscription is the water supply. It decides what flows: which channels and titles, and how many screens can draw from it at once.

The player app is the tap. It's what you actually touch and look at: the menus, the guide grid, the play button.

If the water is off in every room, you call the water company. If one tap drips, you call a plumber. IPTV works the same way. When every channel fails on every app, that's a subscription question. When one app crashes or looks wrong, that's an app question.

An app in the store isn't proof it works with a service

App stores list players by what they do, not by which services they've been tested with. A player appearing in your TV's store tells you it can be installed on that model in your country. It doesn't tell you whether it works with a particular provider, shows the guide properly or handles every stream format.

A device maker listing an app in its store isn't an endorsement of any IPTV service either, and nothing on this site suggests a TV, stick or app brand endorses Nova Star TV. Availability also differs by country: an app in the US store may be missing from the UK or Canadian store, and the reverse.

Request the 24-hour trial to check a player on your screen. The local page prepares a message for you to review and send to support; it does not activate a trial. If support confirms availability and supplies a login, test the app, live playback and guide before choosing a paid plan.

Login types, explained

Xtream Codes login

Three fields: a server URL, a username and a password. Many players call this “Xtream Codes”, “Xtream API” or “Login with Xtream”. Guide loading and display depend on the player and available feed data.

M3U playlist link

One long web address that contains your login. Players usually label it “M3U URL” or “Add playlist from URL”. With an M3U link, some players need a separate guide address before the TV guide fills in. If yours stays empty, ask support.

MAC address or device key

Some players, especially on Smart TVs, show a MAC address or device key on screen and expect you to add your playlist on the developer's website. That's the app's own system. Ask support whether they can help with that player before you order, and never give a third-party website more than it needs.

Fees: what you might pay, and to whom

  • The subscription: a prepaid USD total to IPTV Services for 1–5 connections and 1–24 months.
  • The player app: whatever its developer charges, if anything, paid to them or through your app store.
  • The device and internet: whatever you already pay your retailer and your internet provider.

Nova Star TV doesn't sell player activations or add an app fee to your plan. If a message claiming to be us asks for an app activation payment, contact support before paying anything.
